How to clean RO membrane in water treatment equipment

The reverse osmosis water treatment equipment uses the most energy-saving and advanced reverse osmosis membrane separation technology in the world, but it is not a panacea. Some manufacturers consider cost reasons or design defects. After reverse osmosis has been used for a period of time, It needs to be cleaned regularly to remove contaminants. Of course, no matter how perfect the design is, it needs to be cleaned, but the cycle will be longer. The frequency of reverse osmosis membrane cleaning is closely related to the perfection of pretreatment measures. The more perfect the pretreatment, the longer the cleaning interval;  For example, the simpler the pretreatment, the higher the cleaning frequency.

Generally, membrane cleaning follows the "10% rule"---when the corrected fresh water flow rate is compared with the flow rate of the first 200h operation (after compaction occurs), it is reduced by 10% and/or the pressure difference is observed to increase by 10% ~20% needs to be cleaned. As far as possible, measures should be taken before the drop in the desalination rate shows up. Regularly arranged protective maintenance and cleaning are not enough to protect the reverse osmosis system. For example, due to abnormal operation of the pretreatment equipment, the water inlet conditions will change in a short period of time.

The specific method of cleaning is as follows.

1. First select the cleaning agent formula, configure the solution from the cleaning water tank, and use the cleaning pump to circulate the cleaning liquid to make the liquid uniform.

2. Turn off the water inlet and outlet valves of the reverse osmosis equipment, as well as the discharge valve, and open the inlet and outlet valves of the chemical cleaning of the reverse osmosis device to form a cyclic cleaning system.

3. Connect the cleaning pipeline, turn on the power of the cleaning pump, set the flow rate, pressure, etc., and the cleaning operation can take 1 to 2 hours, and the discharged liquid is discharged into the trench to ensure the concentration of the cleaning liquid.

4. After cleaning, drain the remaining liquid from the water tank, and then put in the water that meets the requirements for flushing.

5. After each flushing stage, run flushing and high-pressure operation in accordance with regulations. The initial drainage will go to the ditch, and it will enter the water tank after the water quality meets the requirements.

This is a set of RO membrane cleaning method steps of reverse osmosis equipment summarized by VOLARDDA's many years of production experience. We hope to help users so as to avoid worries.
